2001-2016 Infiniti Vehicles Headlight Issue

Vehicles affected by service bulletin:

  • 2001-16 Infiniti (all models)

The problem: Customers may notice that water vapor or fog develops in the headlights from time to time. For the most part, this is not a defect, as headlight assemblies are vented to allow for expansion and contraction due to temperature variations. Having some water vapor inside the headlight assembly from time to time is acceptable, as moisture can "travel" into the headlight through these vents. The water vapor will dissipate over time when the vehicle is operated in a dryer environment. However, some models have exhibited more condensation than is deemed acceptable.

Corrective action: Dealers will measure the amount of water in the headlight assembly. If it's within acceptable limits, no replacement will be necessary. If it's found to be more than the acceptable limit and no cracks are found in the headlight assembly, dealers will replace the assembly free of charge.

Warranty info: Assembly replacement will be covered under a special program created for this problem.

What owners should do: Call your local dealer with your vehicle's identification number to determine if your vehicle is eligible for repairs under this special program. You can also call Infiniti directly at 800-662-6200 or NHTSA at 888-327-4236. Reference TSB No. 03-051I.
