1972 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Formerly Owned by Elton John Heading to Auction

A 1972 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 formerly owned by British singer-songwriter Sir Elton John will go under the gavel at Silverstone Auctions’ upcoming Silverstone Classic Sale.

The vintage Ferrari was purchased new by John in 1973 soon after the release of his highly successful album ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’. It was later owned by dedicated Ferrari collectors and Ferrari Owners’ Club members, with the most recent having owned it for 16 years. He consistently kept the car in garaged and well maintained “regardless of cost,” Silverstone Auctions says.

Unlike many vintage Ferraris, this car has been thoroughly enjoyed over the years, showing 81,675 miles on its odometer. It remains beautifully kept despite this, with near-perfect panel fitment, a slick-shifting manual gearbox and a healthy V12 engine. It will be sold with a full and complete history file that includes copies of the original build sheets, order forms, delivery correspondence, and a chronologically ordered file of every Ferrari service bill and receipt from new.

Silverstone is predicting this celebrity-owned Ferrari will fetch anywhere between £525,000 to £575,000 when it’s auctioned off later this month.
