The heavily modified WRX STI Type RA NBR Special was designed to showcase the capabilities of the WRX STI and to draw attention to the upcoming release of the production WRX STI Type RA. The time attack race car also set lap records at the Isle of Man TT and the Goodwood Festival of Speed – where it was also 3rd fastest overall.
