Various GM SUVs Recalled for Power Window Issue

General Motors continues to add to its recall count for 2014.

The American automaker is recalling 184,611 SUVs for an issue with their driver side master power window switch module. According to the recall notice, fluid could potentially enter the module, resulting in a short in the circuit board. If fluid causes a short, the affected vehicles could have their window switches work intermittently or even overheat, causing components of the door module to melt. In a worst case scenario, melted components could lead to smoke or even catch fire with the vehicle off.

The affected vehicles include: 2005-2007 Saab 9-7x, 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT, GMC Envoy XL, 2006-2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, Buick Rainier and Isuzu Ascender. Dealers will inspect the affected part on the door module and install a new one for free if necessary. The American automaker will begin contacting affected owners in late August and will send a follow-up letter when the parts are available for the fix.
