Tesla Model 3 Deliveries Start Sooner Than Expected

Tesla Model 3 Deliveries Start Sooner Than Expected

The first 30 customer Model 3 sedans will be delivered on July 28, 2017.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted the Model 3 has passed all regulatory requirements for production two weeks ahead of schedule, and the company is expecting the first unit to be completed on Friday. The American automaker is hosting a handover party on July 28 to give the keys to the first 30 owners, and then production will grow exponentially, as Tesla looks to start chipping away at its long pre-order list.

Musk estimates 100 units will be produced in August, while September will see over 1,500 Model 3s rolling off the assembly line. It may sound optimistic, but Musk says the company will reach 20,000 Model 3 units per month in December.

To help ramp up production, the first customers will only get to select the exterior color and wheels for their Model 3.
