The BMW M7 might finally become a reality.
Rumors of a possible BMW M7 model have been spreading for years, and now spy photographers have caught a peculiar 7 Series testing in Sweden. The BMW Group recently revealed that it plans to expand the M lineup and it’s looking more likely that the M7 is part of those plans. The possible BMW M7 mule spied testing features unusually large cross-drilled brake rotors that aren’t found on the recently revealed Alpina B7 or the BMW M760i xDrive models.

The 7 Series was spied testing along with a pair of BMW X6 M SUVs and an M5 sedan, further hinting that this is a mule for an M7 that is out testing possible brake upgrades that will be used on the production model.
Like other M models, the M7 will receive more aggressive aerodynamics and a more powerful engine, although which one BMW will choose to use is still up in the air. A likely bet is a version of its twin-turbo V8 tuned to deliver around 650 horsepower, rather than using a heavier V12 engine. Expect xDrive all-wheel drive to be standard on the BMW M7 when and if it hits the market sometime in 2018.
