Genovation's 209 MPH Electric Corvette is Heading to Production

Genovation Cars has announced two partnerships that will help bring the GXE to production.

Earlier this year, the Genovation GXE hit a top speed of 209 mph in Florida, beating its own previous record of 205.6 mph. Although the car that set the record is based on the sixth-generation Chevrolet Corvette Z06, the production model will be built using the seventh-generation Corvette as its base. To help make that a reality, the company has announced two strategic partnerships in powertrain and product development.

First is a partnership with Prefix Corporation, which is a Michigan-based design and engineering company. Prefix will be in charge of vehicle engineering, integration, prototyping, and vehicle production planning. The other collaboration is with Stafl Systems, a California-based company that will focus on electrical systems, battery-pack integration, powertrain refinement, and performance.

In announcing the two partnerships, Genovation shared a video showcasing what both companies do and revealed prototypes of the GXE are now under development at Prefix’s headquarters in Michigan. Look for the production car to make its debut at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas early next year.

“We’re thrilled to have begun the next evolution of the GXE with these two world-class partners,” said Andrew Saul, CEO of Genovation Cars, Inc. “We’re a driven team that is focused on offering the highest performing street-legal electric car in the world.”
