Audi Said to Debut RWD R8 GT, RS4 Avant at Frankfurt Motor Show

Not surprisingly, the German automakers of the world have readied plenty of vehicle debuts for the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show, and Audi is no exception.

According to , Audi Sport will bring a rear-wheel drive version of the R8 to Frankfurt called the R8 GT. We imagine it will be similar to the previous R8 GT, which was about 220 lbs lighter than the regular car and a bit more powerful, only with the absence of AWD. We’re expecting it to have about the same output as the 610 horsepower R8 V10 plus and weigh a considerable amount less than that car’s admittedly heavy 3,920 lb kerb weight, but we’ll have to wait until September to know exact details.

The RS4 Avant, meanwhile, should offer up similar stats to the RS5 coupe. That means a 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V6 will likely hide under the hood, producing a meaty 444 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. The same ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic should also be on offer, along with Quattro all-wheel drive. Unfortunately, the RS4 Avant probably won’t arrive in North America.

indicates a 272 horsepower Audi SQ2 will arrive in Frankfurt as well, but this will also be of little interest to American and Canadian consumers as the Q2 isn’t sold here. It will apparently have about 272 horsepower on tap, which should provide the sporty compact crossover with more than enough of motivation.

We’ll have more information on Audi’s Frankfurt reveals as the annual motor show approaches.
