2018 Toyota Camry Arrives Late Summer with $24,380 Starting Price

The all-new 2018 Toyota Camry will be $425 more expensive than the outgoing model.

The Toyota Camry has been America’s best-selling car for the last 15 years, and the Japanese automaker is looking to continue its success with the eighth-generation model. Riding on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA), the 2018 Toyota Camry is much more aggressive than its predecessors, sporting a new signature design language Toyota says “takes the car into a beautiful and futuristic new direction.”

The sedan will be available in five grades when it goes on sale late summer: L, LE, XLE, SE, and XSE. The sportier SE and XSE models feature a noticeably different body style than L, LE, and XLE trims, further highlighted by a sculpted rocker panel, new 19-inch black machined-finish alloy wheels, a subtle rear spoiler lip, aggressive front bumper, and rear bumper with a lower diffuser.

Under the hood of the 2018 Toyota Camry is a new 2.5-liter four-cylinder Dynamic Force engine with 206 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque. Fuel economy is rated at an EPA-estimated 29 mpg in the city and 41 mpg on the highway, for a 34-mpg combined rating. That’s a 26-percent improvement over its predecessor.

There is also a newly-developed 3.5-liter V6 engine available, sporting 301 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque. As expected, the additional performance comes at a cost of fuel efficiency, but the Camry V6 still returns a respectable 22 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway for a 26-mpg combined rating. Toyota says that’s an eight-percent improvement over the outgoing V6 model.

Both engines are paired to a new Direct Shift eight-speed automatic transmission.

If you’re looking for the ultimate Camry for fuel savings, then the hybrid variant is the option for you. Available in three grades, LE, SE, and XLE, the 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid LE returns a best-in-class 51 mpg in the city and 53 mpg on the highway for a combined 52-mpg rating. The SE and XLE models return 44 mpg in the city and 47 mpg on the highway, good for a 46-mpg combined rating.

The 2018 Toyota Camry LE will start from $24,885, while the SE trim has a starting price of $26,085. Stepping up to the XLE will cost $29,335 and the 2018 Toyota Camry XSE starts from $29,885.

The 2018 Toyota Camry V6 is available in two grades, XLE and XSE. The XLE V6 model starts from $35,285 and the sportier XSE V6 will cost $35,835.

Hybrid shoppers will get to choose between three trim levels: LE, SE, and XLE. The entry-level 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid LE will have a starting price of $28,685, while the Camry Hybrid SE will be priced from $30,385. At the top of the hybrid range is the XLE with a starting price of $33,135.
