2018 Subaru Crosstrek Arrives This Summer, Keeps Manual Transmission

The new 2018 Subaru Crosstrek will make its debut at the 2017 New York Auto Show.

We got a real good idea what the 2018 Subaru Crosstrek would be when the Japanese automaker unveiled the XV at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. Now Subaru has revealed U.S. specifications, confirming that the crossover will come standard with a six-speed manual transmission when it arrives dealerships this summer. Built on the new Subaru Global Platform, the new Crosstrek promises to deliver enhanced performance, safety, capability and comfort. It is also the second vehicle sporting Subaru’s new design language called “Dynamic x Solid.”

Plenty of standard features make the Crosstrek an appealing option in the segment, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, Near Field Communication to simplify Bluetooth pairing and Active Torque Vectoring, which was first introduced on the WRX and WRX STI. The 2018 Subaru Crosstrek will be available in base, Premium and Limited trim levels, although pricing has not been announced.

Under the hood is an updated version of the 2.0-liter four-cylinder Boxer engine now offering 152 horsepower compared to 148 hp before. The model will also be available with an optional Lineartronic CVT, although the Limited trim comes standard with the CVT featuring a seven-speed manual mode function with steering wheel paddle shifters that allow the driver to control the transmission via seven pre-set ratios.

Standard interior features include a 6.5-inch multimedia touschscreen, power windows with auto up/down on both driver and passenger sides, 60/40-split fold-down rear seat, power door locks and side mirrors, multi-function display with fuel economy information, tilt and telescoping steering column, security system with engine immobilizer, 17-inch alloy wheels, standard integrated roof rails, carpeted floor mats and privacy glass.
