Official fuel economy figures for the 2016 Chevrolet Cruze have been announced.
The most fuel-efficient 2016 Chevrolet Cruze model is equipped with a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed automatic, returning 30 mpg in the city and 42 mpg on the highway for a 35 mpg combined rating. When equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, the same model returns 29 mpg in the city and 41 mpg on the highway for a 33 mpg combined rating.
Interestingly, the Cruze Limited Eco doesn’t do as well, with ratings of 26 mpg in the city and 39 mpg on the highway for a 31 mpg combined rating when equipped with an automatic transmission. The model uses the same 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine as the standard Cruze. The manual version gets 28 mpg in the city and 42 mpg on the highway resulting in a 33 mpg combined rating.

The range-topping Cruze Premier gets 30 mpg in the city and 40 mpg on the highway with a 34-mpg combined rating while the Cruze Limited is rated at 26 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway for a 30-mpg combined rating, regardless of transmission.
Opting for the Cruze Limited with a 1.8-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine will net the worst fuel economy from the lineup, getting 22 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway (27 mpg combined) when mated to an automatic transmission. The manual version returns 25 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway for a 29 mpg combined rating.
The new Chevrolet Cruze is priced from $16,995 including destination.
