Spy photographers have caught a new Chevrolet crossover testing, but they’re not exactly sure what it is.
Expected to arrive on the market as a 2018 model year vehicle, it’s unclear which model Chevrolet is actually testing. This isn’t the first time spy photographers have seen the vehicle testing and it has widely been believed it’s the next Traverse. But the most recent prototype features less camouflage and padding than previous test cars, and now that we have a better view of the overall size and shape, this model might not be a Traverse after all.
It appears its size is closer to the GMC Acadia, making it a bit smaller than the Traverse, which means this could be a new model from Chevrolet that slots between the Equinox and Traverse. Rumor has it the American automaker has been planning for the new model and it’s one of the reasons why the new Equinox got a bit smaller, in order to make room in the lineup. Insiders believe the new model will be called the Blazer.

The prototype could be either the new Traverse or Blazer, but we are confident it’s a Chevrolet underneath the camouflage. The front grille is similar to the one seen on the new Equinox, while the headlights feature LED daytime running lights like the Equinox as well.
Both the Traverse and Blazer are expected to ride on the new, lighter Chi platform that underpins the GMC Acadia, upcoming Buick Enclave and other GM crossovers.
