CARS.COM — Volkswagen has announced that its all-new 2018 Atlas three-row SUV and redesigned 2018 Tiguan compact SUV will have a considerably longer bumper-to-bumper warranty than other VW models. The new SUVs will carry a six-year/72,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty as opposed to VW's normal three-year/36,000-mile warranty and five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty. The longer bumper-to-bumper warranty is also transferable to a subsequent owner.

"This warranty further addresses the needs of American buyers head-on," said Hinrich Woebcken, president and CEO of Volkswagen of America, in a statement. "We're confident in the reliability and workmanship of these SUVs, and we want our customers to be confident in their purchase."
Apart from being longer than VW's existing bumper-to-bumper warranty, the new six-year/72,000-mile warranty is longer than the three-year/36,000-mile coverage that most competing compact and mid-size SUVs offer. Hyundai offers a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty, but that coverage drops to five years or 60,000 miles — whichever comes first — for subsequent owners.
The 2018 Atlas arrives this spring and the 2018 Tiguan is scheduled to hit dealerships this summer.
