BMW’s new M2 won’t be losing its roof.

According to M2 chief engineer Frank Isenberg, the car will not be losing its roof. “We need to keep it as purist as we did with the 1 Series M Coupe,” Isenberg told . “We’ve got such a nice M235i Convertible. And convertibles are not for racetracks, they’re for cruising.”

Unlike the BMW M4 convertible, BMW wants to make sure its M2 is totally track focused with no compromises.

Powering the small M car is a  turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine that makes 370 horsepower and 343 lb-ft of torque.
