Older Ram Heavy Duty pickup trucks are being recalled to address a possible fire risk.
About 86,000 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks, as well as 3500, 4500 and 5500 chassis cabs are affected by the recall, from model years 2007 through 2013. In addition, 2011-2014 Dodge Charger Pursuit sedans are also involved in the recall, where the vehicles have alternators that may be subject to premature diode wear, increasing the potential of engine stalls or engine fires. The American automaker is aware of one minor injury related to the issue, but no crashes.

Of the affected units, 74,833 are in the U.S., about 10,100 in Canada and 1,100 in Mexico. About 100 units are outside of North America. To resolve the issue, dealerships will replace the faulty alternators.
The problem was first detected by an FCA investigation of fleet-vehicle performance.
