Poll: Ford GT or Ferrari 488 GTB?

Plain ol Bill
2 Min Read

Ford vs. Ferrari is a classic rivalry that dates to at least the 1960s when these two automakers slugged it out at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

This competitive spirit is set to continue in the 21st century with the blue oval introducing a brand-new version of its iconic GT racecar. A natural rival for this model is Maranello’s own 488 GTB. Which of these mega-machines is better? Which one do YOU prefer? Here’s some important information about each one.

Focusing on the upstart Ford, it’s powered by a mid-mounted 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6. With both port and direct fuel injection as well as twin turbochargers the company promises will deliver more than 600 horsepower (probably A LOT more). This engine is surrounded by a carbon-fiber passenger cell, which is wrapped in lightweight structural body panels.

Changing gears in the Ford GT is a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic that should provide synapse-quick shifts.

Looking at the Ferrari, it features a more traditional propulsion unit, a 3.9-liter V8. But breaking with the past, this engine is twin turbocharged, and to great effect. It delivers an inspiring 661 horsepower, enough to push the 488 GTB to 62 miles an hour in just three exhilarating seconds.

Like the Ford, a seven-ratio “F1” dual-clutch transmission sends power to this Ferrari’s rear wheels. Along with its resourceful gearbox, careful aerodynamic tuning helps this Italian exotic slice through the air like a bullet. In fact, its bodywork provides some 717 pounds of downforce at 155 miles an hour!

Clearly, you can’t go wrong with either of these supercars. They’re both incredible examples of apex automotive engineering, but still, do you prefer one over the other? Which would YOU rather own, the new Ford GT or Ferrari’s 488 GTB? Compare these cars directly right here and don’t forget to vote in our poll!
