An Italian gang was looking to get rich quick recently, hoping to demand a ransom for Enzo Ferrari’s body.

The founder of the world famous Italian automaker died in 1988 and is buried in an above-ground family tomb in the San Cataldo cemetery in Modena, which is near Ferrari’s plant at Maranello. Italian investigators have revealed they foiled a plot after suspecting a gang had planned to demand a ransom from the Ferrari family or company after stealing the body.

Police in Nuoro on the island of Sardinia shared during a news conference they discovered the plot during an investigation into arms and drug trafficking that led to a number of arrests.
