General Motors CEO Dan Akerson has made his desire to bring the Opel Cascada stateside very clear, and it appears that it, “could happen soon.”
The word comes from insiders at Opel during the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, saying that the four-passenger, front-wheel drive convertible will fit nicely into the Buick lineup. As we said when we saw the Opel Cascada at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show earlier this year, the car simply has Buick Regal convertible written all over it.

As we reported previously, however, don’t expect the Opel Adam mini-car to make an appearance any time soon. The current model can’t be federalized to comply with U.S. safety and other regulatory requirements. The Cascada on the other hand, is loosely based on the Buick Regal, and at one point Opel supplied the Regals to the U.S.
In other words, expect the Cascada to show up as a Buick Regal convertible in the near future.
