The next-generation Porsche Cayenne is undergoing cold weather testing.
Spy photographers have managed to capture the new Cayenne testing all throughout this year, and the latest photos shows it playing in the snow. Although the styling isn’t changing drastically for the new model, it will ride on the Volkswagen Group’s new MLB SUV platform that currently underpins the Audi Q7 and Bentley Bentayga. That means the Porsche Cayenne will shed quite a bit of weight, with reports suggesting it will be 330 to 440 pounds lighter (150 to 200 kilograms).

In terms of its design, we do see a little bit of the Macan influencing the Cayenne, with sleeker, more subtle curves. There’s also influence from the Panamera Sport Turismo concept with a more muscular look.
A lot of the updates will happen inside the cabin, with less buttons and more touch controls available to the driver and passengers. Expect it to look a lot like the new Porsche Panamera.
Under the hood, the German automaker will continue to offer a wide range of gasoline and diesel engines, as well as a plug-in hybrid variant. It’s a possibility Porsche may give this iteration an all-electric version. Look for the new Porsche Cayenne to make its debut in late 2017 as a 2018 model year.
