The Chevrolet Camaro isn’t designed to just race down the quarter mile.

At the 2016 SEMA Show, the American automaker unveiled the new Camaro Turbo AutoX concept, combining the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with a performance suspension, brake system, air intake and exhaust system.

Rolling on concept Chevrolet Accessories 20-inch aluminum wheels wrapped with Goodyear 285/35R20 tires, the Camaro Turbo AutoX concept sits closer to the ground with a Chevrolet Performance suspension lowering kit, which includes stiffer springs and specifically tuned dampers to lower the ride height by 0.75 inches (20mm). Providing additional chassis stiffness is a concept strut tower brace under the hood.

Braking performance is also improved with a Chevrolet Performance front brake kit, boasting six-piston calipers and 370mm, two-piece slotted rotors.

To give it a look that fits in with the sea of modified cars at the 2016 SEMA Show, Chevrolet gave the concept Camaro a Shock Yellow exterior paint finish complemented with Pearl Nickel hood stripes and satin Carbon Flash Metallic accents on the hood vents, rockers and rear diffuser.

Inside, the black leather-trimmed interior includes a suede-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel and shift knob and boot, as well as a carbon fiber instrument panel insert. And since the car is designed to take on autocross courses, there’s also a bolt-in harness bar and five-point safety harnesses.

“This concept pushes Camaro in a new direction, integrating new performance parts that make the most of the turbocharged Camaro’s lightweight dynamics,” said Jim Campbell, GM U.S. vice president of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports.
