Rumors of a mid-engine Chevy Corvette to fight the Ford GT have been circling for years, and the latest one claims that the car will be here before the end of 2016.
Some had hypothesized an unveil at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show, but according to new information from the car will make its debut sometime in 2016 with the possibility of it showing up in November at the LA Auto Show.
Citing an unnamed source, says that development of the car has been underway for years and it is likely that the car is currently in its final validation stages.

Some details were also shared about the car, including the fact that it will use a turbocharged, direct-injected engine making over 700 horsepower, hooked up to an optional seven-speed manual gearbox. Automatic transmissions options weren’t mentioned.
Pricing for the car will likely be close to the $400,000 that Ford is planning to sell the GT for. Like that car, very few Chevy dealerships will be given the chance to sell the mid-engine Corvette, with eligibility based on past sales experiences, location, sales numbers and other factors.
Since mid-engine Corvette rumors have been around for so long with no product to back them up, it makes these new claims hard to believe. But seeing two mid-engine American supercars battling it out on the race track is certainly a sight we want to see.
