Lamborghini is jumping on the green bandwagon and has confirmed that its upcoming Urus SUV will be available as a plug-in hybrid.

Lamborghini has said in the past that hybridization cannot be avoided, and this is the first time the Italian automaker will use the technology. According to a report from , Lamborghini research and development chief Maurizio Reggiani confirmed that the Urus will be the only hybrid in the lineup and that it will be offered alongside a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8.

Audi, which resides under the same Volkswagen Group umbrella as Lamborghini, will likely provide the basis for the plug-in hybrid technology, as it already has a sophisticated e-Tron system in production cars. The upcoming Urus, which is Lamborghini’s first SUV since the Rambo Lambo LM of the 1980s, will share a platform with the Audi Q7, upcoming Q8, and Bentley Bentayga. The Q8 has already been confirmed as an e-Tron model, meaning it will be a plug-in hybrid of some sort, and the Urus will likely be a direct benefactor of the R&D that goes into that model.

Details on the Urus are scarce but expect a production version of the Lamborghini SUV to debut at a major auto show sometime in 2017 and be on sale in 2018.
