Chinese electric car startup Hybrid Kinetic says it will put its H600 concept into production by 2020.
Hybrid Kinetic first showed the H600 concept at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. The concept EV was designed by famed Italian styling house Pininfarina and represents “85 to 90 percent,” of how the production vehicle will look when it arrives before decade’s end.
Powering the H600 are two electric motors with a combined output of 804 horsepower. A battery pack of unspecified size provides energy for the motors, while an onboard microturbine range extender can charge the power reserves up on the fly. Hybrid Kinetic claims a 0-60 mph time of under 3 seconds for the H600 and a top speed of 155 mph.

Hybrid Kinetic plans on performing trial production runs for the H600 at Pininfarina’s plant in Italy before it enters production in China. The EV is expected to arrive in the U.S. and China in 2019-2020 and will serve as a rival to the Tesla Model S and similar vehicles from Mercedes-Benz. The automaker hopes to be producing 200,000 vehicles annually in 5 to 10 years’ time and will pull the wraps off two more models at the 2017 Shanghai Motor Show next month.
