General Motors has announced a new recall for 31,000 SUVs over a fire risk.
A manufacturing defect may cause the windshield wiper motor to overheat and in some cases to catch fire in the affected 2016 Chevy Traverse, Buick Enclave and GMC Acadia SUVs. Of the 31,000 affected units, roughly 6,400 are in the hands of customer while the rest sit on dealer lots.

Owners of the affected vehicles were sent overnight mail to alert them of the issue and to urge them not to use their windshield wipers if possible. GM says that if rainy weather is preventing a customer from bringing their car into a dealership, the brand will arrange transportation. “If repair parts are unavailable, GM will provide a rental car at no cost until parts become available,” GM said in a statement.
