Dealers are reportedly taking early deposits for Dodge Demons, but FCA is warning people that the order books haven’t even opened yet and that making a deposit doesn’t guarantee a car.
Speaking to , head of passenger cars at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Tim Kuniskis confirmed that dealers should technically not be taking deposits on the upcoming Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. In fact, the dealers can’t physically take an order because Dodge hasn’t given the dealers the allocation numbers or have even opened up the order banks yet. That means dealers don’t even know how many Demons (if any) they’ll be getting, so there’s a possibility some customers who made a deposit simply won’t get a Demon.
Unfortunately, it appears that isn’t stopping some dealers from taking deposits: “Now, ‘shouldn’t be’ and ‘aren’t’ is two different things, because I have heard stories of dealers that I’m friends with, dealers that I’ve known for years, that have been taking deposits.”

A similar issue occurred with the original Hellcat model when dealerships were taking deposits before getting their allocation and leaving some people without cars.
The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is limited to just 3,000 units in the U.S. and 300 in Canada, so they will likely be rare and hard to find. That’s a good reason why customers are willing to drop deposits in hopes of securing one, even though it’s not a guarantee.
Look for pricing on the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon to be released to its dealers by June. If you’re really hoping to get your hands on one, you can try to find a dealer willing to take a deposit, just don’t get your hopes up.
