Don't Get Your Hopes Up for Alpine's New Sports Car in the US

Renault has confirmed it has no plans on bringing the Alpine A110 to the U.S.

The new sports car made its debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show this week, and there was a small glimmer of hope that it could head to North America thanks to the Renault-Nissan Alliance. But that isn’t the case anymore, as the French automaker confirmed to  that it’s focusing on other markets and the U.S. isn’t one of them. “At the moment we are not planning on selling the A110 in the U.S.,” said Alpine CEO Bernard Ollivier. “Re-launching the brand is a big project. Right now we’re focusing on markets like Europe and Japan.”

The news is disappointing to say the least, although Ollivier doesn’t exactly address whether it’s a possibility under the Renault-Nissan Alliance. Still, it seems unlikely the brand will sell it under the Nissan badge in the U.S. considering it may have a hard enough time keeping up with demand in Europe and Japan.

The Alpine A110 will launch with a limited-edition version called the Première Édition and production will be limited to 1,955 units. Reports say a majority of them were already sold before the car debuted in Geneva.
