It’s just a matter of time before the new BMW Z5 debuts, and rumors have been swirling about how it will look.
The BMW Z5 is a sister car to the upcoming Toyota Supra successor, both of which will be riding on a new sports car platform that BMW and Toyota developed together. Most recently, spy photographers managed to catch the BMW Z5 testing and showing off a bit more of its skin and although it’s still heavily camouflaged, worked with digital artist Tobias Büttner to imagine what the new roadster could look like.

Little is currently known about the BMW Z5, but we don’t expect the German automaker to make a huge departure from the design language found on its recent models. It does appear that BMW will use a soft top rather than a retractable hard top, likely as a way to shed weight.
BMW and Toyota don’t intend to compete with one another with the two sports cars, and reports suggest the Supra will only be offered as a coupe while the Z5 will exclusively be a convertible. Both models are expected to debut at a major auto show later this year.
