Ford has already confirmed the new Shelby Mustang GT500 will have over 700 horsepower, but exactly how much will it pack?
Full details on the new Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 aren’t expected to come until next year, but that hasn’t stopped enthusiasts on the internet from coming up with educated guesses on what to expect. One Reddit user has come across a potential Easter egg in the 2018 Ford Mustang brochure, that possibly hints the GT500 will have 772 horsepower and 743 pound-feet of torque from its 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine.
The image of the customizable 12-inch LCD display can be found on page eight of the 24-page brochure, showing the Mustang in “7th” gear while running at a speed of “72 mph.” Maybe it’s just all hopes and dreams, but combining the two numbers gives us 772, while the odometer reads 74.3 miles, suggesting the Mustang could have 743 lb-ft of torque.
Of course we won’t know for sure until Ford confirms the official figures.

But the idea of picking apart the images found in a brochure isn’t exactly new. The American automaker did just that leading up to the reveal of the 2018 Ford Mustang. Last year, Ford released an image showing the gauge cluster in “4th” gear and at “55 mph” which corresponded to the 455-hp targeted output for the Mustang GT. We now know however, that the 2018 Ford Mustang GT sports 460 hp.
Ford spokesperson Mike Levine confirmed there were Easter eggs hidden in that cluster image last year, before the Mustang actually debuted. It’s possible Ford is doing the same thing again leading up to the GT500’s introduction.

For now, we will just have to wait and see if Ford drops any more teasers, but it’s sounding more and more like the GT500 is actually closer to 800 hp than 700.
