Chevy has revealed a go-fast version of its full-size SUVs that it is calling the Rally Sport Truck (RST) package.
The Tahoe and Suburban RST models will come packing a 6.2-liter V8 making 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, mated to a new 10-speed automatic transmission. According to Chevy’s preliminary estimates, the RST models will be able to tow up to 8,400 pounds and will be capable of jumping to 60 mph from a standstill in less than six seconds.
Besides the new powertain, there are some performance modifications that should make these models a little more capable than the standard SUVs. A Borla performance exhaust is available, boosting horsepower by seven to 10 at the rear wheels. Massive six-piston Brembo front brake calipers are also available, clamping onto 16.1-inch brake rotors.

These SUVs are also fitted with GM’s Magnetic Ride Control suspension which allows the driver to control a set of active electronically controlled shock absorbers that can make the vehicle ride stiffer or softer. The system also reads the road every millisecond and reacts to the surface below it, allowing for maximum performance when it is needed or maximum comfort when that is desired.
To make them look the part, Chevy peeled off all the chrome trim that normally comes on these models and fitted a body-color grille surround, gloss-black grille and mirror caps, black roof rails, black badging and unique 22-inch wheels wrapped in ridgestone P285/45R 22 tires.
The RST models will become available in fall of 2017. Pricing details have not yet been announced.
