Chevrolet is once again providing the pace car for the Indy 500 and this year it will be a 2017 Camaro SS 50th Anniversary Edition.
One out of the four Camaro SS models will be driven by race team owner and former pro driver Roger Penske. Mechanically, the 2017 model remains the same, which means that under the hood lives a 6.2-liter V8 that makes 455 horsepower.
The race is also celebrating an anniversary this year, with the running of the 100th Indy 500.
A number of visual upgrades come to the 50th Anniversary model including unique wheels, a stripe package, a revised grille, a body-color front splitter and special badges. Unfortunately, the pace car decals don’t come with the standard car.
