A detailed breakdown of the Chevrolet Bolt’s range has been released by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), revealing that the all-electric car can travel 255 miles in the city and 217 on the highway.

In combined driving both in the city and on the highway, the Bolt is rated to travel 238 miles on a single charge. The city range figure of 255 miles is especially impressive considering that a Tesla Model S 60D is rated to travel only 221.1 miles in the city and costs at least $66,000 before incentives.

Chevy also recently announced Bolt pricing, which comes in at $37,495 before incentives.

The 217-mile highway range for the Bolt is where the car falls short compared to Tesla, thanks in large part to its 0.32 cd rating. Aerodynamic efficiency was sacrificed for interior space and practicality with the Bolt, resulting in a lower highway range. Every Model S available manages to outdistance the Bolt on the highway, save for the Model S 60 which goes 214 miles.

It’s also worth noting that the EPA does not include Chevy’s regen-on-demand paddles when testing, which the American automaker says can increase range by up to 5 percent in stop-and-go traffic.

The EPA says that with a 240V charger, the Bolt will take 9.3 hours to fully recharge.
