The Chevrolet Volt has taken the lead for plug-in sales.
The redesigned 2017 Chevrolet Volt has provided a boost in sales for the American automaker, with the plug-in hybrid selling 1,865 units last month marking a 192-percent boost compared to March 2015’s figure of 639. So far this year, Chevrolet has sold a total of 3,987 Volts, a sizable increase compared to 1,874 units over the same time period in 2015.
While the Chevrolet Volt has dramatically improved for its second generation, the Nissan Leaf is lagging behind with the new model still in development. But things aren’t all bad for the formerly best-selling electric vehicle, which sold 1,246 units last month. Unfortunately, that is 31 percent less compared to the 1,817 delivered in March 2015. Nissan has sold a total of 2,931 Leafs through March 2016, which is a 28-percent drop compared to the 4,085 units sold from January through March 2015.
