Former NFL MVP Cam Newton and Australian supermodel Miranda Kerr cordially invite you to “Experience the New Buick.”
Expanding on its unexpectedly successful “That’s a Buick” theme, a new ad highlighting the Encore and Cascada will air during the first quarter of Super Bowl LI on Sunday. The 60-second spot will mark the second consecutive year Buick has bought ad space during the big game as the brand aims to promote its proliferating lineup.
The lighthearted spot titled “Pee Wee” drops us into middle of a Pee Wee football game just as a new Buick Cascada pulls into the parking lot.
One dad says to another, “Check out that Buick,” and playing with the trope, the quarterback’s father responds, “If that’s a Buick, then my kid is Cam Newton.”
And poof:
Along with the new commercial, Buick is also promising more exclusive content on its social media channels in the days leading up to the Super Bowl.
“Buick is experiencing unprecedented sales success and consumer awareness backed by remarkable third-party quality and reliability validation,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president of Global Buick Sales, Service and Marketing. “Our latest vehicles like the Encore and Cascada belong in the spotlight on a global stage only the Super Bowl can offer.”
“[Miranda Kerr and Cam Newton] have a lot in common with the type of people we want to attract to Buick.” said Stuart Fowle, Buick’s brand communications manager. “Buick wanted to associate themselves with They take their work incredibly seriously but also know how to laugh and have fun. They also fit the values that have been consistent through our campaign. Smart, approachable, a good sense of humor, lots of energy.”
The New England Patriots will take on the Atlanta Falcons in Houston, Texas for Super Bowl LI on Sunday.
