Spy photographers have caught the new Opel Insignia Sports Tourer testing, which will head to the U.S. as the Buick Regal wagon.
Buick has filed trademark applications for Regal TourX and TourX, with the nameplates suggesting they will be used for a wagon version of the Regal.
Following the publishing of those trademarks, attendees allegedly saw the 2018 Buick Regal, Regal GS and Regal TourX models at Buick’s annual dealer meetings, all but confirming that a wagon variant is on the horizon. The company is expected to debut the 2018 Buick Regal in the second quarter of next year, making the New York Auto Show a likely candidate for its premiere.

The new Buick Regal will share its underpinnings with the Opel Insignia, which spy photographers have caught testing in both sedan and wagon form. The new model should bow at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show and will give us a real good look at what to expect from the Regal wagon heading to the U.S.
For now, we have these spy photos to go off of, with the wagon sporting more of a “shooting brake” design than a traditional wagon body.
