The newest crossover from Buick, called the Encore, will hit the market in early 2013, and will come with a base price of $24,950.
The Encore uses a four-cylinder turbocharged engine that makes 140 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque, and will be mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Weight savings thanks to high-strength steel help the Encore to stay light, letting it achieve 25 mpg city, 33 mpg highway and a combined 28 mpg EPA rating.
The Ford Escape, arguably the Encore’s largest competitor, comes with a base price of $22,470, undercutting it by just a few hundred dollars. For comparison however, the Encore achieves better fuel economy while the Escape edges out the Encore in total horsepower and torque.
