For those who miss the Chrysler 200 Convertible and Volvo C70, there’s good news – Buick has a car for you.

Just released at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the 2016 Cascada is Buick’s first convertible since the 1991 Reatta. Already sold as an Opel, Vauxhall and Holden, the Cascada will join the Buick’s lineup in America later this year.

Designed as a convertible right from the start, the Cascada sits on a 106.1-inch wheelbase that size-wise puts it between the Verano and the Regal. Using a 2+2 seating configuration, Buick claims there will be enough space for four adults.

To help adults climb into the back seat, the front seats will electronically power forward at the touch of a button. The rear seats can also fold down electronically to expand trunk capacity which is good since the Cascada only has 13.4 cubic feet of space, a number that shrinks to less than ten when the soft convertible top is folded down.

New Turbocharged Engine

Under the hood will be General Motors 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Rated at 200 horsepower, the small four-pot produces 206 lb-ft. of torque, a number that rises up to 221 lb-ft. in over boost.

It’ll be paired exclusively to a six-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels. The Cascada will come standard with 20-inch wheels and Buick’s HiPer front strut setup.

Of course, the Cascada will be full of Buick’s latest technology, including a seven-inch touchscreen with IntelliLink that features text message alerts, Siri capability and OnStar 4G LTE with built-in Wi-Fi hotspot. There will also be the usual safety equipment such as lane departure warning, rear park assist, rearview camera and ran sensing wipers.
