BMW has issued a delivery stop on approximately 3,800 vehicles.
A service bulletin has been sent to dealers, notifying them that certain M2, M3, M4, 5 Series and 6 Series models will need their rear differentials replaced before they can be sold. The affected vehicles include the 5 Series sedan and M5, as well as the 6 Series Gran Coupe, convertible and coupe models, and were produced from May 2, 2016 through July 4, 2016.

Originally, BMW said that approximately 202 vehicles were affected, but reports that the number has now increased to around 3,800 cars. According to forum members, there is a possibility that a recall is in the near future, as some have taken delivery of affected vehicles produced during the time frame.
