BMW M2 Rumored to Receive Hardcore Version with 400 HP

An even more hardcore variant of the BMW M2 is reportedly in the works.

reports that the more extreme M2 could receive the same engine used in the M3 and M4 models, instead of using an upgraded version of the current turbocharged six-cylinder engine. The M3 and M4 both use a 3.0-liter twin-turbo six-cylinder engine, and it appears BMW might de-tune that powerplant to deliver around 400 horsepower for the new BMW M2 variant.

The report also says the BMW M2 could be badged CS rather than CSL or GTS like other M models. Expect it to also benefit from new suspension borrowed from the bigger M3 and M4 models, although it will be retuned for the M2’s smaller size and lighter weight.

Naturally, the BMW M2 CS will also get changes to its aerodynamic, with more aggressive styling that is traditional with other hardcore M variants.
