BMW is hoping to breathe new life into its i3 electric hatch.
Next year, the BMW i3 will receive a facelift and a new range-topping model reportedly called the i3S. The new model is expected to be sportier, getting an uprated version of the current i3’s electric motor to give it a quicker zero-to-60-mph time. It’s unclear just how much more performance the i3S will offer, but the current model’s electric motor provides 170 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque and a zero-to-60 time of 7.2 seconds.

The facelifted BMW i3 will an updated appearance with new front and rear fascias, but don’t expect the changes to be drastic. The minor styling tweaks will be accompanied by possible changes to the headlights and a refreshed interior with an updated infotainment system.
Its range will also likely see an increase, but it won’t be major, considering BMW added a new 94-Ah battery to the lineup this year that provides up to 114 miles of range. Look for the facelifted BMW i3 to make its debut at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show next September.
