BMW 6 Series Convertible Spied with Familiar Styling

The next-generation BMW 6 Series isn’t looking like a Porsche 911 fighter after all.

Earlier rumors had the new BMW 6 Series aiming to compete with Porsche’s iconic sports car, but recent spy photos suggest otherwise. Photographers have now managed to capture both the coupe and convertible 6 Series on camera, and it’s looking more like the current iteration than a smaller sports car. As expected, the BMW 6 Series convertible looks much like its coupe counterpart, but it does appear to have a lower roofline with changes in the rear to accommodate the drop-top design.

What’s interesting however are the photos of the rear of the convertible. If you look carefully at the rear window of the soft top, BMW has two additional pieces of camouflage, suggesting that the design team might be trying to hide a more complex design. It’s a more likely possibility that the German automaker is just trying to conceal the interior from spy photographers.

Unfortunately, those hoping the BMW 6 Series would become a smaller, sportier car to compete with the Porsche 911 might be disappointed.
