The Audi R8 V10 Plus Exclusive will be the first model in the U.S. to feature laser headlights.
The German automaker will debut its first U.S. production laser light at the 2016 L.A. Auto Show, with the Audi R8 V10 Plus Exclusive that’s priced from $230,450 including destination. The R8 exclusive edition features full LED headlights that are now supplemented by a laser high beam module in each headlight. According to Audi, each headlight contains one laser module that operates with four high intensity laser diodes, with each module bundling these diodes into a blue laser beam with a wavelength of 450 nanometers. A phosor converter than transforms the blue laser beam into very bright and pure white light.

The laser beam pattern is active at speeds of 40 mph and above, helping give the driver enhanced visibility by projecting a low and wide beam of light on the road ahead.
Each Audi R8 V10 Plus Exclusive Edition features a Quantum Gray exterior and the Titanium Black-optic exterior package. It also comes standard with 20-inch wheels finished in high-gloss anthracite while the carbon sideblade is further accented with a Solar Orange stripe.
A total of 25 units will be produced.
