Audi is reportedly in discussions on buying back 25,000 diesel vehicles from their owners.
Citing German publication , reports that Audi is in talks with both affected car owners and U.S. authorities on buying back older Audi Q5 and Q7 vehicles equipped with a 3.0-liter TDI V6 engine. The powerplant was also used in the Volkswagen Touareg and Porsche Cayenne SUVs.

So far, every proposed fix from Volkswagen for its 3.0-liter V6 engine has been rejected by U.S. regulators, potentially affecting about 85,000 vehicles in the U.S. Volkswagen has said it hoped to avoid buybacks for its V6 cars, but it appears that 25,000 vehicles might be too old to be fixed adequately.
“We are working hard with U.S. regulators to reach an agreement [on] an approved resolution for affected 3.0-liter V-6 TDI vehicles and thank our customers for their continued patience,” Volkswagen said in a statement to . “The Court has scheduled a status conference for November 3, 2016, to discuss the matter further.”
