The next-generation Audi A8 is expected to launch later this year, and the big luxury sedan has been spied cold weather testing.
Sporting plenty of camouflage, the new Audi A8 is looking more like the Prologue Concept that debuted in 2014, which is a good thing. Overall, the size looks to be similar to the current A8 model, but it now sports a single frame grille up front, giving the luxury sedan a wider and muscular appearance even with all its camouflage.
The next-gen A8 will ride on the company’s MLB Evo platform that debuted in the Audi Q7. Along with significant weight savings, the new platform also allows Audi to equip the model with a wide selection of alternative powertrains.

For its launch, expect the engine lineup to resemble the current A8, which includes a range of gasoline and diesel engines. But to take advantage of the MLB Evo platform, the German automaker will eventually add a plug-in hybrid version to the lineup.
Although it’s not confirmed, rumor has it that the 2018 Audi A8 could debut at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. Expect to hear more about the flagship sedan in the coming months as Audi continues putting it through its paces.
