CARS.COM — Released in June, the Cars.com 2017 American-Made Index ranked the 10 most patriotic 2017 cars — that is, the 10 cars assembled in the U.S. with high domestic-parts content, predominant U.S. sourcing for engines and transmissions, and high support for U.S. manufacturing jobs. In response to the AMI, Cars.com readers took to our Twitter and Facebook to share their thoughts — here's what they had to say.

Topping this year's list were the Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited, assembled in Toledo, Ohio, and the Jeep Cherokee, assembled in Toledo and Belvidere, Ill. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' massive Toledo Assembly Complex employs more than 5,000 people and produces as many as 50,000 vehicles a month. The citizens of "Jeep Country" are fiercely proud of the work they do and the American-made cars they produce.

Ohioans and Jeep owners celebrated the Wrangler and Cherokee's AMI win on social media:

The #Jeep brand tops 2017 American-Made Index, and many models are made just 50 miles away from us in #Toldeo! https://t.co/70bdangMNr pic.twitter.com/aKrPAdRZ3t

Proud to say that I build both the Wrangler and Cherokee

Three Fords, three Hondas, one GMC and one Acura also made the list of the 10 most-American cars. Some Twitter users were happy to see their cars represented, while others were surprised to see Honda on the list since the automaker is headquartered in Tokyo.

Interesting that the list is dominated by brands owned by foreign corporations. And that the only "car" on the list is the Taurus.

Due to the globalization of the automobile industry, the number of models meeting the original American-made criteria fell, so Cars.com updated its methodology for the 2017 index. This meant that Toyota, which topped the list in previous years, no longer qualified. Some AMI readers took note of the change, and one pointed out Tesla's absence from list.

For 2017, https://t.co/DrNXYWZJOy has revamped its longstanding American-Made Index for the first time. #MadeInAmerica

Changed methodology means @Toyota #Camry and Toyota #Sienna, which were #1 and #3 last year, have fallen off the @carsdotcom list entirely.

@Kelsey_Mays by excluding hybird/electric you left off the most American cars from @TeslaMotors cc @elonmusk
