Car shoppers in Italy will soon be able to purchase a Fiat online.
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has teamed up with online giant Amazon to initially offer three Fiat models for sale online, the 500, the Panda and the 500L. The automaker said the decision to sell those three models was delibarate, since the Panda is Italy’s biggest-selling car, while the 500 and 500L appeal to younger shoppers. According to Gianluca Italia, the man responsible for Fiat Chrysler in Italy, the partnership will appeal to buyers looking for deals without having to leave their home, saying that existing promotions will be improved by up to 33 percent for online customers.

Italia added that research shows half of Italians are willing to purchase a vehicle online, but 97 percent prefer to pick it up from a traditional dealer. As a result, the shopping experience Amazon will provide allows buyers to pick their car, customize it and get a final price before being contacted by Amazon to decide on a dealer where they can finalize their purchase and take delivery. The company says a vehicle should be ready within two weeks of the initial click online.
“The time has arrived to give consumers a new, more efficient and transparent way to choose a new vehicle,” said Gianluca Italia during an online press conference.
