Auto shows typically focus on new production models and forward-looking concept cars; racing usually takes a back seat. But check this out all you motorsports fans, Acura just revealed its TLX GT right here in Motown. This all-out performance machine competes in the highest level of the Pirelli World Challenge Championship. Supposedly it can go wheel-to-wheel with awe-inspiring performance cars like the Audi R8 LMS, Lamborghini Gallardo, Nissan GT-R and Porsche 911. Yeah, that’s some pretty rarified company.

To make good on that claim the TLX GT Race Car is powered by a TWIN TURBOCHARGED 3.5-liter V6 engine, a powerplant that will also be found under the hood of regular-production TLXs though without forced-induction. Helping it grip the road like taffy to your molars it’s got all-wheel drive, though we suspect it’s NOT Acura’s production SH-AWD system. The car’s chassis also received significant attention and it’s got a boad-load aerodynamic enhancements that make it slice through the wind like the tip of an Ottoman scimitar.
