Acura TLX Gets the Grown Up Tuner Treatment

The Acura TLX GT Package made its debut at the 2016 SEMA Show.

Inspired by Acura’s racing heritage, 2016 and 2017 TLX models can be outfitted with the new TLX GT Package, which gives the sedan a sportier look. The Acura TLX GT race car recently completed its campaign in the Pirelli World Challenge, and Acura is celebrating by outfitting the production sedan with a rear decklid spoiler, front spoiler, side sill garnishes and rear underbody spoiler, along with an optional 19-inch Diamond Cut wheel and tire kit.

Acura’s history in sports car racing includes the 2009 American LeMans manufacturer, driver and team championships in both the LMP1 and LMP2 classes. Acura Motorsports along with longtime racing partner RealTime Racing have achieved 10 Manufacturers’ Championships, 14 Drivers’ Championships and 78 race victories. The company also recently saw its near-production Acura NSX taking a win at its North American racing debut at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in the Time Attack 2 class. The company has begun homologation testing of the NSX GT3 car that will campaign in events starting next year.

The Acura TLX is available in three trim levels, with the entry model sporting a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 206 horsepower and an eight-speed dual clutch transmission. There’s also a 3.5-liter V6 model with 290 hp and a nine-speed automatic transmission, as well as the TLX SH-AWD sporting the same V6 engine but with next-generation SH-AWD technology.

The TLX GT Package has an MSRP of $1,717.
