The Acura RLX Hybrid still isn’t up to the Japanese automaker’s expectations.
Originally expected to arrive this spring, the RLX Hybrid was then delayed and was supposed to arrive this summer. But the RLX Hybrid has yet to show up at dealerships and according to the company’s senior vice president and general manager, Mike Accavitti, the car isn’t on sale due to a “technical” issue. Unfortunately Accavitti wouldn’t elaborate on the issue simply telling that the sedan “just hasn’t met with our expectations yet.”

Reported reasons for the car’s delay vary from a lithium-ion battery shortage to engineers needing to work out the car’s three-electric-motor Super-Handling-All-Wheel-Drive system. The RLX Hybrid will feature a trio of electric motors paired to a 3.5-liter V6 engine for a total system output of 377 hp.
As of now, the RLX Hybrid is expected to arrive dealerships within the next month as some units were on a boat from Japan late last month.
