The new Acura NSX is set to debut its production form sometime in 2015 and now the Japanese automaker has confirmed that a roadster variant is in the works.

At last year’s SEMA Show, Acura showed off a prototype NSX Roadster concept which was used in movie. According to Honda’s Principal Designer, Jun Goto, the automaker still has “a long way to go with it,” and we shouldn’t expect to see it for at least two years after the coupe is launched in 2015.

Since development is still in its infancy, the automaker hasn’t decided if the new Acura NSX Roadster will feature a hard top or a soft top. As for those wondering how far along the coupe’s development is, Goto stated that the production model will be larger in every direction compared to the concept, but it will look nearly the same. In fact, about 95 percent of the styling we’ve come to see and love will make it to the production version.

Though it’s still unconfirmed, Acura is hoping to debut the production NSX at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show.
