Everyone thought Buick’s display at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show would be a bit of a snoozer, but a new report is hinting that the automaker might drop a sporty coupe and surprise everyone.
Citing an anonymous inside source, Bloomberg is reporting that Buick will show a Camaro-sized luxury sports coupe concept at the North American International Auto Show.
‘s prediction is that this new rear-wheel-drive coupe will be a modern-day Grand National or GNX built on the same platform as the Cadillac ATS and Chevrolet Camaro. It’s a great platform, and if Buick uses the same lovely 3.6-liter twin turbo V6 that’s used in the ATS-V, the automaker’s staid lineup could get a lot more exciting.

GM has also already confirmed that the C7 Corvette’s LT1 V8 will fit in the ATS chassis, which also means we could see that same engine in whatever this Buick sports coupe is.
Buick has been trying desperately to lower the demographic of its buyers, and a 400-horsepower RWD sports coupe might just be what the brand needs.
will be at the Buick reveal on Sunday night, the day before the show officially begins. Stay tuned for our live coverage of this mystery reveal.
